Mario’s Fine Men’s Clothing has provided the Napa Valley with the finest clothing since 1981. When Ron and his wife first opened Mario’s, they named the new store after their only son, Mario. “To me, the name ‘Mario’s’ symbolizes what the store is all about,” Ron says. “We’re a family-owned and family-run business, and we’re dedicated to treating each one of our customers like a friend of the family. So, when it came time to name the store, it was only natural to name it after my son. Also, I was born and raised here in St. Helena. I went to school here, and I’m proud to be part of this community. Naming the store after my son represents my long-term commitment to serving St. Helena—to giving back for all that I’ve received.”

The business hired Nick Roman in 2005 as a sales person. In 2011, Nick took over as managing partner & buyer of Mario’s with Ron Sculatti. Nick has a background in sales and has been in the customer service industry for most of his life. His mother and father opened one of the first high-end boutiques in West Palm Beach, Florida. “I grew up in a family full of salespeople and “clothes-hounds.” It’s in my blood to say the least,” says Nick. Nick is committed to keeping Mario’s on the leading edge of contemporary men’s fashion.
Twice a year Nick goes to the major clothing shows in Los Angeles, and Las Vegas where the top European and American designers have their latest fashions on display. He chooses the clothes for Mario’s that will best fit the Napa Valley lifestyle—casual, but elegant; edgy, yet refined.
A Unique Shopping Experience
But providing a choice selection of quality men’s clothes is only part of the equation. Mario’s offers a unique shopping experience, where we make each client feel special. We are more than a store; we crack open a bottle of wine, provide snacks, and make reservations at local restaurants and wine tastings. We go out of our way to make every client’s “Napa Valley Experience” memorable and fabulous.
“It’s the level of service we provide to our customers that makes Mario’s a success,” Ron says. “As I said, we treat our customers like friends of the family—so they come back, year after year. We offer in-house tailoring, and we do whatever it takes to make sure that every customer is completely satisfied.”
“We’re on a first-name basis with many of our customers,” Doug adds, “both local people and people who come to the Napa Valley from all over the world. Often, when we buy clothes for the store, we buy with specific customers in mind. We know our clientele—because they come shop at Mario’s regularly. They know they can count on us to carry clothes that are both distinctive and practical—clothes that are an expression of good taste and good sense.”
